Beauty junkies worth their salt would surely have heard of the famous Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Gel, the OG aloe vera beauty product that can do everything from moisturising parched skin to healing sunburns.
I’m a big fan of Nature Republic’s Aloe Vera Gel, which was part of the reason why I picked up this soothing mist last year in Korea even though I wasn’t a huge fan of mists (yet).
Made from 92% Aloe Vera gel, NATURE REPUBLIC Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel Mist is enriched with vitamins and is great for keeping the skin hydrated, soothed and cool throughout the day. The aloe vera used to make this product comes from certified organic farmers in California (CCOF) and is kind to even the most sensitive of skins, making this suitable for all skin types

The mist comes in a 150ml plastic bottle that is fuss-free, spill-free, and light. I like the convenient packaging, as it is easy for me to carry around and spray it on my face every time I need a perk-me-up or my face is feeling a little drier than usual in air-conditioned places.
I find that the nozzle works pretty well too, so you just need to lightly press down to get a light spritz. You get just the right amount every time (or at least, I do!) so it doesn’t become too messy an affair.
The original aloe vera product is a slightly viscous gel that melts easily into the skin, and while this is called a ‘Gel Mist’, it really is more liquid than gel – not that I’m complaining!
It feels like a cooling liquid on your face that is very quickly absorbed by skin, so all skin types will love this, even if you have the oiliest of skin.
Most face mists don’t really promise much besides moisturising your face throughout the day, and neither does this spray overpromise on what it can deliver to your skin.
On the moisturising front, I think it certainly scores very well. I find that the oily parts of my combination skin are less oily after I started using this periodically throughout the day, which is a good sign that my skin is getting the moisture it needs so that it doesn’t produce oil in turn.
There are no promises on treating sunburns with this Soothing Gel Mist, but I find that this works very well to soothe and refresh skin, especially if your skin feels like it’s burning from the hot sun. I recommend having this with you if you’re out in the sun for long hours, as this is a highly effective means to cool down.
The Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92A% Soothing Gel Mist is definitely value-for-money – at just SGD6.30, it’s much cheaper than a lot of other mists you’ll find in the market, yet manages to help your skin feel just as good, if not better.
Some beauty bloggers have also suggested using this as a toner or setting spray, beyond just a hydrating face mist. While I personally don’t recommend the latter as it may cause your makeup to run, I do think this is a good alternative to try if you don’t like astringent toners or if you run out of your usual toner options.
While I haven’t seen very drastic improvements in my skin after using this, I do like this face mist more than others that I’ve tried, and I think most people will love this too, as long as you manage your expectations of what it can do for your skin.
